Our management team includes accomplished repeat entrepreneurs with experience ranging from start-ups to initial public offerings. This is a highly experienced multidisciplinary team with world-class expertise in application-specific integrated circuit (ASIC) design, solid-state detector physics, product development, sales, marketing and finance.

Bradley E. Patt, Ph.D., Vice-Chairman, Co-Founder, President and Chief Executive Officer

Dr. Patt has been the company’s president since 2002 during which time he has been largely responsible for the company’s product development, stewarding the companies’ innovative technology to market as the company has grown. Dr. Patt is a successful entrepreneur having founded several high tech ventures since 1997 including Gamma Medica-Ideas, Inc., Photon Imaging, Inc., DxRay, Inc., and Radiant Detector Technologies, LLC. (sold to Seiko Instruments Nanotechnology (SIINT) of Japan). Prior to 1997, Dr. Patt held key management positions in Research and Product Development with Advanced Detectors, Inc. (formerly Xsirius, Inc.), and EG&G Energy Measurements, Inc. Dr. Patt is an internationally recognized authority in the field of X-ray and gamma ray imaging systems with over one hundred and twenty (120) scientific papers and presentations, several book chapters, and several patents in this field. He is a past member of the NEMA Small Animal PET and Nuclear Probe Quality Control Task Forces. He has held elected positions on the IEEE Nuclear Medicine Instrumentation Steering Committee (NMISC), the Radiation Instrumentation Steering Committee (RISC) and the Program Committee of the SPIE Medical Applications of Penetrating Radiation. Dr. Patt serves as a board member for the companies Photon Imaging, Radiant Detector Technologies and DxRay, Inc.

Samir Chowdhury, Ph.D., Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer, Global Operations

Dr. Chowdhury joined GM-I in 2005 as its Vice President, Clinical Imaging, bringing talent in Management of Technology Development Portfolios from his past experience gained at Phillips and Siemens Medical Solutions, Nuclear Medicine Group, one of the top two Medical Imaging Companies in the world. At Siemens, Dr. Chowdhury held the position of Senior Principal Research Scientist for five years, where he was responsible for evaluating new detector technology, imaging software technology, electronics and packaging technologies and clinical applications for Nuclear Medicine (PET and SPECT), Molecular Imaging, Computed Tomography, Digital Radiography, Magnetic Resonance and Optical Tomography. Prior to Siemens, Dr. Chowdhury worked as the New Technology Development Manager and Senior Project Engineer at Biomec Inc. Dr. Chowdhury is also a widely published author with over 20 peer-reviewed journal publications.

Dave Wilk, Senior Vice President, Sales

Mr. Wilk joined GM-I in 2001 and has been in charge of Sales and Service for GM-I for the past five years. During this period, Mr. Wilk has built our International Sales and Service department. Mr. Wilk has been largely responsible for developing new market opportunities for GM-I and for promoting growth in the emerging pre-clinical imaging market. Mr. Wilk came to GM-I with twenty years of sales, marketing and management experience in the High-Tech arena. Prior to joining GM-I, Mr. Wilk spent twelve years with various computer divisions and spin-offs of Harris Corp. including four years in Europe. From 1995 until 2001, Mr. Wilk ran sales for Polaris Communications (acquired in 2000 by Crossroads Systems, Inc.), an engineering-driven manufacturer of high-speed networking equipment, successfully negotiating partnership agreements and OEM contracts with Microsoft, IBM, Sun Microsystems, and others.

Koki Yoshioka, Ph.D., Senior Vice President and General Manager Norway Operations

Dr. Yoshioka who has been with the company’s Norwegian Operations for twelve years assumed the role of General Manager, Gamma Medica-Ideas (Norway) AS in December 2006. Previously he was Senior Vice President of Development & Engineering for GM-I after GM-I’s acquisition of IDEAS ASA (Norway), where he previously served as IDEAS Development Director. Dr. Yoshioka holds a Ph.D. in Electronic Engineering from the University Of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. While completing his Ph.D., he worked for several years at CERN and is an expert in front-end electronics for particle sensors. Dr. Yoshioka is a Brazilian national and resides in Oslo, Norway.

David Lapointe, Senior Vice President, Marketing, General Manager Canadian Operations

Mr. Lapointe holds a Bachelor's degree in biology and a Master's degree in Medical Imaging from the Université de Sherbrooke. He is the author of some early scientific publications demonstrating the potential of PET molecular imaging. In 2003 he co-founded the first digital pre-clinical PET Company, Advanced Molecular Imaging (AMI) inc., recently acquired by GM-I. From 1999 to 2001 he worked as an international representative for CADx Medical Systems, where he was taking part in sales distribution support, product development and system quality assurance. Mr. Lapointe has also occupied previous positions in the pharmaceutical industry.

Kevin Parnham, Senior Vice President, Engineering

Joining the Company in 2002, Mr. Parnham brings over 20 years of experience in the field of radiation detection to the company and is an internationally recognized expert in solid-state detector technologies. Prior to joining GM-I, Mr. Parnham was with eV Products, where he was responsible for Sales and Marketing and later took the position of Staff Physicist in the engineering department. During his tenure at eV Products, Mr. Parnham was an integral part of the management team responsible for growing the Company to $10 + million in 8 years. In addition, Mr. Parnham was responsible for the development of the first hand-held, commercially available, CZT-based imaging system. Prior to working with eV Products, Mr. Parnham worked in various European companies and organizations including Nuclear Enterprises Ltd., John Caunt Scientific, CERN (European Organization for Nuclear Research) at Geneva, Switzerland, the National Physical Laboratory, and the Atomic Energy Research Establishment (both in England).

George Maculewicz, Vice President, Manufacturing

Mr. Maculewicz joined GM-I in January 2002 as Operations Manager and has held the position of VP of Manufacturing since December 2005. Mr. Maculewicz brings over 25 years of Project Management and Product Development experience in advanced mechanical and electromechanical high-technology based products for commercial, space, and military uses. Prior to joining GM-I George held senior engineering and management positions with Advanced Detectors, Inc (formerly Xsirius, Inc., of Camarillo, CA), Loral Corporation, and Dynatech Corporation. Mr. Maculewicz holds a Masters degree in Mechanical Engineering from Warsaw University and between 1997 and 2001 he returned briefly to Warsaw where he completed an MBA degree from University of Warsaw.

Gunnar Maehlum, Ph.D., Vice President, Research

Dr. Maehlum took the position of Vice President of Research for GM-I after GM-I’s acquisition of IDEAS ASA (Norway), where he previously served as IDEAS Director of Research. Dr. Maehlum is a noted world-wide expert on digital imaging systems with over 10 years of experience in leadership of corporate research and development functions, and leading rapid concept to prototyping development strategy for complex projects in x-ray and gamma ray detection and imaging. Dr. Maehlum received his Ph.D. from the University of Oslo. Prior to joining IDEAS ASA in 1997, Dr. Maehlum developed broad international academic experience during employment at CERN, the University of Karlsruhe and the University of Perugia. He is the author of numerous publications in the field.

Koji Iwata, Ph.D., Director, Asian Operations

Dr. Iwata joined GM-I in 2002 as a key member of the company’s management group. He has also served as the company’s Manager of Applications and Support, where his expertise in imaging technology and pre-clinical imaging applications has helped dramatically expand pre-clinical imaging in medical research and drug development around the world. Dr. Iwata was appointed Director of Asian Operations in 2006. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Physics and Astronomy from the University of Arizona and Master’s degree and Ph.D. in Physics from the University of California, San Diego. Dr. Iwata was Assistant Professor of Radiology at the University of California, San Francisco, from 1997 to 2002. He is one of the world’s leading authorities on medical imaging technology, and is a Principal Investigator or Co-Investigator on several United States government research projects, funded either by the National Institutes of Health or The Department of Energy. He has presented his work at more than 50 molecular imaging, nuclear medicine, and medical imaging instrumentation conferences in the last several years.
