Gamma Medica-Ideas (GM-I) develops novel technologies to markets that improve patient health through early diagnosis of disease, improved patient treatment and by enabling new drug discovery. GM-I also develops medical devices and techniques to support molecular imaging of living subjects, targeted at the pharmaceutical pre-clinical research and clinical diagnostic markets. GM-I is dedicated to developing cutting-edge, fully digital imaging systems using the most advanced solid-state technologies. Gamma Medica – Ideas was formed on 1 July 2005, by the merger of Gamma Medica, Inc. of Northridge, California, USA, and Ideas AS of Oslo Norway. Gamma Medica - Ideas recently acquired Advanced Molecular Imaging (A.M.I.) inc. of Sherbrooke, Quebec, Canada, the only company in the world delivering a fully digital APD PET product for pre-clinical imaging. The combined company emerges as the world’s first and only company with a complete range of digital imaging technologies including APD PET and GM-I’s recently announced CZT SPECT detector technologies, as well as the most advanced range of multiple modality systems for drug discovery and medical research. Gamma Medica – Ideas, Inc., and Gamma Medica, Inc. before it, have been in the business of designing, building, selling and servicing pre-clinical imaging systems since 2001, and multi-modality pre-clinical imaging systems since 2002. We have more than 50 installations of multi-modality systems installed worldwide – on four continents – and we provide service to all of them. In the clinical market, GM-I is well known for its state-of-the-art LumaGEM, a molecular breast imaging system for early diagnosis and treatment of breast cancer. The digital gamma ray imaging technology in LumaGEM offers significant advances in resolution and contrast allowing for identification of millimeter sized breast cancers often missed by mammography. Gamma Medica-Ideas’ staff is comprised of extremely qualified people including service engineers and application scientists, as well as applications and service crews. GM-I’s sales, marketing and distribution team is also one of the best, with our sales force being worldwide. In fact, we sell directly in the US, Canada, and Europe, and through third party distribution in Asia. GM-I has the infrastructure to produce everything from components up to systems. Gamma Medica-Ideas’ aim is also directed towards research and development, concentrating our efforts on such fields as: radiation detector design, camera and systems engineering, ultra-low noise ASIC design, readout electronics, SPECT and CT detectors, as well as PET.
Since 1992, GM-I has been developing ASICs & Detector Modules. Its technology has been used in numerous applications, ranging from medical imaging cameras to space applications. GM-I is now the leader in “gamma camera on a chip” technology.
In 2001, GM-I launched the first pre-clinical SPECT. Today, GM-I has more than 100 imaging platforms installed world wide, with an impressive list of customers in both the academia and pharma industry. In 2004 GM-I launched the first tri-modality (PET/SPECT/CT) system.
In 2005, GM-I merged with Ideas, an ASIC development company in Norway. In 2007 GM-I acquired Advanced Molecular Imaging of Quebec to become the first company offering a full line of digital products in SPECT, PET and CT. Today, GM-I has sales and service capabilities in America, Europe and Asia. |
